Even if you’ve been in a minor fender bender you should always call the police and file a collision report. Having a police officer write down a report while all the facts are fresh in your head can prove valuable if the guilty party tries to blame you later on.Exchange Information Write down the make and model of the other car/s involved and the make and model, too. Exchange driver’s license information and insurance cards—do not forget any of this!Call Your Insurance

The sooner you call your insurance company and report the collision the better. Most insurance companies expect a call after an auto collision within 24 hours but we say call after you speak with the police and exchange information with the other party or call right when you get home.
